Maine- Time on the water

The coast of the Blue Hill Peninsula was rugged and beautiful. Almost everything we did was influenced by the water- whether it was hiking to get an amazing view, boating to get more amazing views or swimming as part of the amazing view!

Our cottage had a path that led to a small beach. Grace couldn't get enough of swimming and climbing of the rocks. Harris enjoyed the rocks, but the water was a wee bit too cold for him! Instead, he and Bryce would sometimes sit on the picnic blanket and read a book together.

One day we were given the opportunity to do something that neither Bryce nor I had done before- sea kayaking. Another couple offered us their kayak for the morning and we gladly took them up on it. It was wonderful! We got very close to the Pumpkin Island light house and we spotted some seals in the water!

We also took a ferry ride on the mailboat to the Isle au Haut. Part of the island is Acadia National Park and the only way to the island is by boat. While on the ferry we spotted the Victory Chimes which is the only three mast boat left in the area! It looked like it belonged in a bottle!

  1. This looks like so much fun! Maine is one state we have not been to, but hope to go soon...maybe this fall! =)
