Valentine's Day

Truth be told, I'm still getting used to celebrating little holidays without the children home.  Yesterday, Valentine's Day, I missed having them home and doing little things such as heart waffles, a little love gift, or a special dinner.  Of course, I have my Valentine in Bryce but we've been celebrating as a family for so long that it's taking some getting used to doing things just the two of us!  He and I did go out to lunch and I made us yummy cream puffs for a sweet dessert.  We ate dinner in front of the fire and all in all it was a fine day.

I also made homemade Cinnamon Spice Cookies (a riff on red hots!) to send to Harris as a Valentine.  I used dried chili seeds from the garden and it gave them quite the kick!  Something fun and different.

I also picked willow and red twig dogwood to bring in.  This Mt. Aso Willow is one we've planted in the field, it's perfect for Valentine's Day and they are looking good so far, even in this first year.  The vibrant red twig dogwood is a good compliment to the willow I think.

P.S.  Last night, I finished watching One Day on Netflix.  I have read the book and watched the movie (so I'm very aware how it ends!) and yet I bawled watching the last episodes, so perhaps not a great choice on Valentine's Day.  However, I thought it was really well done!
