This has been a strange summer in many ways for Bryce and I (drought, lack of flowers, excessive heat, etc.) but up until about a week ago, Harris was living his best life. He has been working as a lifeguard all summer with a great group of friends and a girl is now in the picture too.
This is a scan of the left side break, the other break is on his right front. The bottom photo is after the plates had been put in and the 8 screws to hold the wire/bands.
It all came to an abrupt halt a week and a half ago when, while visiting a friend out of state, he broke his jaw in two places. We had to get him home, and he had to have surgery (3 hours!) to put metal plates in his jaw, which will stay there for the rest of his life. His jaw is shut for at least 3 weeks, meaning he is on a liquid diet for at least that long. It's been quite the week but we seem to now have turned a corner with pain and the swelling has gone done significantly. Obviously, there have been lots of smoothies and blending of food!
