I recently had a chaise recovered to put in our room. I actually bought the chaise (at a secondhand store) before we ever moved into the house but once we moved in, I wasn't sure that there was room for it in our bedroom. Therefore, it languished over in the cottage, waiting for me to decide what to do with it. Finally, I came to the conclusion that even if it was going to be a little crowded I wanted to go for it. I went ahead and had it recovered and it looks brand new!
Once we got the chair situated, I realized that above it was a great space for a big piece of art. The problem is we didn't have any and the thought of looking for art didn't really appeal; I much prefer to find something we love while traveling or by happenstance. Then it came to me that we actually did have a large piece of art, the quilt that Marilyn made for me (here and here) out of the children's special clothes! I ordered a quilt holder on Etsy and voila! I love it so much. Every time I look at it I'm reminded of a sweet moment in time with the children.
Have I ever mentioned that Al made our bedroom furniture for us as a wedding gift? An armoire, a dresser, two side tables and a bed. Pretty amazing.
I love our room, it's cozy, comfy and pretty. Grace is always puzzled by the fact that the walls are blue, and to be honest it was an impulsive decision, but I like it for now. With the blue walls and the green rug, it feels like a nice compliment to to the view out of our 4 windows! Also, the blue compliments the bathroom!
