We have a lot of wood around here, a lot. With acres of woodland we have trees that naturally die and then all of our ash is dying due to the emerald ash borer. We often take the ash down before it falls so that it doesn't take out other trees. Of course, something has to be done with all the material and Bryce has spent a fair amount of time splitting and chopping wood.
For the past season or two, Bryce has been stacking our wood in a round stack. He read about it in the book, Norwegian Wood: Chopping, Stacking and Drying Wood the Scandinavian Way by Lars Mytting. I love how it looks, it's just so simple and pretty in the wood yard! I hope that he always stacks it this way.
When Bryce first mentioned that he might invite some of the guys over to chop and stack (and take some home!) I thought he was crazy. My guess that no one would want to spend part of their weekend doing that but I was wrong. We've had lots of friends stop by and help out and it's been great! It's a win/win for everyone!
