Snowstorms

We've just made it through a week of cold temperatures and two snowstorms coming through.  We haven't had significant snow is several years so it was very welcome!  I'm sad to say that this week we will be experiencing unseasonably warm weather so it will all be gone soon enough.  Frankly, I would be happy if it stayed white for the rest of the season (without the ice!).  It's so much prettier with a blanket of snow rather than brown!

During the snow, we stayed cozy and warm inside by the fire!  I worked on garden planning and organizing my seeds.

One evening, we even made stew over the fire in our old kitchen fireplace.  We've never used the swing arm and not only was it fun but the stew was delicious!

After the snow was finished falling, I've enjoyed walks with Rosie.  I love the woods and the creek in the snow.

Bryce made a fire in the fire pit and had a few guys over.

We've always made Oatmeal Creme Brûlée on snow days and we carried on the tradition this time.  However, we did decide snow days are much more fun in general with our children home.  I missed them.

While I hope this won't be the last snow of the season, I do feel like we made the most of it!

A Trip To Florida

We've just gotten back form a quick trip to Florida to visit my father-in-law at his new condo!  I always joke that I have a complicated relationship with Florida (I lived there grades 1-12!) and this was my first time back in a long while!  We had lovely weather, though it was quite chilly, which I will take over hot and humid any day!

While there we visited the Kennedy Space Center, which was a marvel.  I still vividly remember watching launches during the school day, specifically the ill fated Challenger, so to see the rockets up close was pretty fascinating.  Their sheer scale is hard to comprehend.  Also?  The idea they managed to put people in space, and on the moon, without the technology we have today is absolutely mind boggling.

In keeping with the space theme, we also visited Hollywood Studios with the specific intention of visiting Galaxy's Edge.  Both the children, but Grace specifically, have wanted to visit this Star Wars replica for a while and this was the perfect time to make it happen.  It was very busy, with very long lines, but it was also very well done.  It reminded me a lot of  Harry Potter World.  As a side note, we walked over 7 miles this day and Al was with us for every step.  Pretty impressive!

We were also thrilled to get to spend some time with Jackie and James.  We were able to see their lovely home and spend time with them outside on their awesome patio and for two dinners!

It was a wonderful trip!
