The Sweetest Place on Earth

We got back from Hershey, Pennsylvania last night and we had a delightful time! I'm not sure how we managed to do all that we did in three days/two nights but we managed to do all that we were hoping to do! It's worth noting that prior to our trip it had been HOT. As in really, really, unbearably hot. But for the three days that we were in Hershey the weather was perfection. Here are some highlights from the trip...

The afternoon that we arrived we headed over to Hershey Park and Chocolate World where we took a ride that explained how chocolate was made. We also took a trolley ride that took us around the town and gave a history of Milton Hershey and the town that he built. It was a charming, fun tour that we all enjoyed. We also went to the Hershey Museum and learned even more about the man and the town.

See the chocolate around Harris' mouth? It pretty much stayed that way the entire three days!

How awesome are the streetlamps in Hershey?

We stayed at the Hotel Hershey, which was beautiful! Each morning we had a lovely breakfast at the hotel before we departed for the day. We also got to meet a few characters.

We told Harris this was as close as he was ever going to get to a Reese's Cup!

Once we got to the park the children measured up to find out what rides they would be allowed to ride. Grace was a Hershey and Harris was a Reese's Cup.

This was the children's first experience with an amusement park of any kind! I don't think they really knew what to expect and neither did we in regards to what they would be willing to try! Both our children can be fairly cautious so I was thankful that they had a lot of "kiddie" rides. However, those rides were not necessary for Grace! It turns out that she is a roller coaster lover. She accompanied Bryce on many roller coasters and loved it! Harris was a little more unsure but he was a real trooper and had fun on the more low key rides (but he did ride the Comet roller coaster!).

Our last day in Hershey we spent the morning in the children's garden at the Hotel.

We then went back to the park and spent some time at the Boardwalk, which is a waterpark within the main park. We didn't end up spending much time there but instead went and rode more rides in the main park! (Honestly, I was happy not to spend too much time at the Boardwalk- it's unsettling to me to walk around a theme park in a bathing suit and barefoot!)

At the end of our day we came back to the Hotel Hershey and went for a swim in the pool (it was better than the Boardwalk!). We then put the children in their pajamas and came home.
