Capital Reef National Park

It was a short drive to get from Canyonlands to Capital Reef National Park.  We hadn’t allowed a whole lot of time to explore this park and only had a day here.

We did fit in a hike to Hickmans Natural Bridge where, once again, Harris and Bryce did some climbing and scrambling.

We also explored the Fuita Historic District.  This is where Mormon settlers chose to make a homestead on the banks of the Fremont River.  They planted orchards that are now managed by the National Park System.  Visitors are allowed to pick, taste and take home fruit (you may sample off the trees till your hears desire but to take home it is a whopping $1 a pound).  Apricots were in season while we were there!

We also bought some pies to bring home to the Airstream!  Harris made a fire and we enjoyed dinner with a beautiful background.

Next stop... Bryce Canyon National Park
