Lake Cushman

We arrived in Seattle late Friday evening and on Saturday morning we got up early (easy to do because of the time change!) and headed to Mark and Wi's property on Lake Cushman that they so generously offered to share with us.

We took a ferry part of the way which was very fun and offered us our first view of the Seattle skyline.

In order to get to the property on the lake, you must take a boat (or hike in for over a mile!) and it was clear as soon as we got on the water that this was a magical place.  I worried that we might not ever extract our children when it was time to go!

Their property was simply gorgeous!  In the two days (one night) that we were there we ate delicious meals (courtesy of Wi), hiked, swam, boated, tubed behind the boat and played around a campfire.  It was perfect.

Our time there was blessed by perfect weather!  The children spent the majority of their time enjoying the water in various ways.

We do not get the opportunity to go boating where we live so it was really fun and exciting to go on the boat.  Mark took the children tubing and I got to ride along.  It was the most fun I had had in a while.  I couldn't stop smiling!

Jumping off the boat was also pretty fun!

We hiked up the mountain to find a stream to play in.

We also saw a beautiful moonrise.  Of course the picture doesn't do it justice.

The time spent at Lake Cushman was really wonderful and relaxing and so, so much fun.  We are so glad that we got to share this special place with friends new and old.

*Most of the photos are mine but I have pulled some from Jack's camera.   All photos of mine were taken with my Leica as the shutter on my Nikon broke days before we were to leave for Washington.  I was so upset!  However, the Leica's pictures seemed to have turned out well and it sure was easier to carry around!

  1. Wow! It is stunning! Everything is so lush and green. And the boat ride to the area...makes me think you entered where the wild things are! so lovely.
