Cape Cod- Part 1

While visiting Cape Cod, our "homebase" was the little town of Brewster, which was charming and quaint.  Our house for the week confirmed my long held desire for a keeping room in my kitchen (they had a fireplace with a table and a sofa in the kitchen) because that is where we all spent our time when we were at the house!  That and the pool.

We also went to a Brewster Whitecaps baseball game.  Cape Cod has a prestigious league that plays all summer long and it was really fun for the children to watch these awesome players.

Even though we stayed in Brewster, we made our way around the Cape during the week.  One of our first stops, where we had a delicious lobster roll while sitting at an old counter, was Rock Harbor.  When we arrived the tide was out and by the time we left it had come in rather quickly!  The children loved it.

We also visited Woods Hole and enjoyed the science center, the drawbridge, and Pie in the Sky Restaurant!  On our way home, we stopped to see the lighthouse and to walk the beach for a few minutes.

We made our way to Provincetown where we climbed The Pilgram Monument.  From there we made our way to The National Seashore for some hours at the beach.

Following a tip from a local (the best kind!), we stopped at a kettle pond on the way home from the shore and swam in a beautiful body of fresh water.  It was a perfect summer evening.

(out of focus but I still love it)

  1. Great looking lighthouse and monument. Couldn't guess the family's' fondness for water. Grace looks like she was shocked by a spray of cold water in that one! Such happy faces.
