Harris' Valentines

Harris' Valentine's cards turned out to be a last minute job this year.  We were late starting to think about them (how is it already mid February ) and then every idea was a little too sweet, cutesy or "Valentiny" for this 8 year old boy.  Fortunately, Marilyn had sent a newspaper article about Valentine's that were just right for such boys- Valen-slimes!

The newspaper article provided printables for the cards and gave instructions on how to make slime using water and Metamucil (we couldn't find berry flavored, so we colored the original).  We had a bit of a hard time with the slime because after boiling it for 20 minutes, per the instructions,  the slime was still pretty wet.  I had visions of parents hating me for sending their child home with messy, red slime!  However, after heating for a bit longer and cooling overnight they were fine to send in for the children.

And of course, Harris loved playing in the slime and can't wait to make more!

  1. Very cool. What boy wouldn't love that! It is a challenge to come up with boy valentine ideas.
