Tree Trimming

Last weekend we had our annual tree trimming festivities!  As the children get older I love trimming the tree with them more and more.  They are both enthusiastic trimmers and I no longer have to rearrange the ornaments after they go to bed!

We started by finding the  most perfect tree.

Then while Bryce strung the lights on the tree,  I began dinner, Grace and her Grandma made tree cookies and Harris spun around between all three of us!  We also snacked on some yummy cheese and crackers.

Traditionally, we have had Ginger Prawns with Pasta for dinner.  We've had years where we tried something different but we always come back to the shrimp.  I love getting the festively colored pasta- it's truly a special dish.  Of course, cranberry spritzers are on the menu as well.

After dinner, the children opened their new ornaments.  This is always one of the highlights of the evening.  Grace received a toy soldier since she is one in The Nutcracker and Harris' ornament was a glittery fire since he loves to make fires (in the appropriate place!).

When it was time for dessert, we had cookies and milk.

  1. I'm still admiring that lovely ornament wreath you made and the choice of where to display it. Also, those cookies look tasty. We had a couple inches of snow on Sunday and some remained for Christmas caroling last evening which was nice.
