Hollowware

Over the years we have run the gamut on anniversary gifts.  In the beginning of our marriage, we started out very strong with sticking to the traditional anniversary gifts.  Then we started working on projects around the house and we didn't have extra money to spend on gifts (this phase lasted a while!), then we had children and had moments of barely keeping our heads above water, and finally we got to the point where we would sporadically get gifts if something struck our fancy, but more often than not we would just go to dinner and celebrate another year married.

This year we had our mini trip to NYC planned and so we weren't going to exchange gifts.  However, I found these old silver sippers and thought they were the perfect little gift.  They are considered hollowware (the traditional 16th gift) because they are straws as well as spoons.  I also love that the spoon is a heart!

I made chocolate ice cream (Bryce LOVES ice cream) and we celebrated as a family before we left for NYC.

P.S. Obviously, Bryce has not always dreamt of having silver sippers but he thought the idea was sweet and a lovely token!

  3. Ha, ha. Love that last comment! Got to have one of those terrific 'together' shots of you both for the mantle. The spoons are quite the clever find. They'd be fun to take to a malt shop.

  4. Really I appreciate the effort you made to share the knowledge. The topic here I found was really effective to the topic which I was researching for a long time.
